Stayed one night on a powered site , Scott was lovely, had fun feeding the trout . The porta loos were very clean . Lots of bbqs to use . Really enjoyed our stay .

Stayed one night on a powered site in campervan would have stayed longer if time permitted, even though it rained I had a ball trying to tempt the resident trout to take a fly to no avail even with Scott's help and advice I was no match for the wary residents... (as a novice's second time fly fishing) It is a beautiful spot

Great place to stay, powered site options available. Make sure you carry water in for your stay. Only 15 minutes to Cradle Mountain Visitors Centre. Very good option, all weather access for MH or Caravans.

Great place to stay to visit Cradle Mountain. I stayed 3 nights unpowered. Where I parked was on blue metal which was great as no mud when it rained. Very pretty with dam. Nice walks, lots of birdlife. I'd definitely stay again.

Definitely cheapest camping spot nearest to cradle mountain. Amenities clean, can get a $1 shower in Sheffield if need be. Lovely walk around the dam and saw many fish and a platypus! Wood $15 for a wheel barrow load. Great spot!

We stayed here fully self contained and off grid (unpowered) but there are powered sites. Book ahead if you want power. Clean portaloos and dump point and wood availability pay per barrow load- and you can pay to catch and release fish. It rained but we were more than fine in a van. Great views, walk and easy access to cradle mountain- less than 15 mins! Awesome camp spot! $15 per person per night - probs cheaper than most in this area with loos.

The location is excellent..the camping area is a 'work in progress'. Not good when it rains. There is a definite need for an undercover area and some taps closer to campers..stayed there two nights..not good when it rained!!

We enjoyed 10 days next to the lake with power. Scott is very helpful, super clean porta loos, fishing & views. An easy 20 minute drive to the Cradle Mountain visitor centre. The best of both worlds. Highly recommend.

Agree with the reviews. I came to stay just one night but the spot is so amazing that I'm going to stay another. Just by the lake, incredible view, barbecue, firewood, and kayaks to use for free. Power if you want. No shower

Agree with the reviews below. Spent five nights as a base for cradle mountain which is only about 15mins away. Everything we needed and nice to come back each day to our site overlooking the dam. Friendly host.

Just spent 4 nights here while exploring Cradle Mountain. A really lovely place, very peaceful. 2 portaloo's which does the job. A couple of BBQ's around, rubbish bins, seats, sink, dump point. You can top your van tanks up but it is untreated water. Wi-Fi good. Welcoming and accommodating owner. Thankyou for allowing dogs to stay. Would stay here again.

Stayed in a tent for 1 night. Right next to the water. Very close to other campers as there weren't allocated sites but that's not something that bothers me. Scattered picnic tables and BBQ's. No fire pit around where I was. Two clean smelling toilets and wash sink up the hill. Kayaks and life jackets available free to use and nice walk around the lake.

cafam6

Agree with previous reviews - a little overpriced at the moment but would rather support here than overpriced bigger parks. A work in progress but so much potential. Beautiful views. Fire pits. Walk around the lake was beautiful. Kids could go kayaking for no extra charge. Scott was very accommodating. Would definitely come back.

Lovely setting and close to Cradle Mountain walks. 15mins. Scott was friendly, accommodating and well setup. Struggled for Telstra reception but Scott said he was installing a repeater in the next few days. Lots of trout in the beautiful dams but couldn't tempt one sadly. It was busy, but would definitely stay there again in preference to the over priced Discovery park at Cradle.

We loved this campground, we were on a powered lakeside site. Beautiful outlook across the lake with echidnas and platypus. Our boys loved riding their bikes around the lake. Portaloos were clean. Lovely host and only 20 minutes from cradle mt. Only issue was powered sites seem to been extension leads plugged into extension leads leading back to the house. We lost power multiple times over two days due to overload.

Basically just a free camp but you have to pay 15$ pp. Portable toilets and bore water.

Juanito.Juanito
Juanito.Juanito

The camping is just 20 min away to Cradle Mountain. It has a nice lake to walk around, two toilets, a zinc to wash some dishes and some other facilities. I think $15 for an unpowered spot is a bit expensive but is not a big deal, specially that the camping doesn't has showers or tap water (you have to boiled it for 3 min before to drink it). Any way, Scott was a really nice host and I definitely recommend it. I'll be back if I'm around

Stayed here 3 nights ago while exploring Cradle Mountain National Park. Great place to base yourself. Lovely spot along the dam, loads of fish jumping, you need a licence. Lots of vans there and all fairly close at some points but this was great for chatting to neighbors and while site was very quiet. You can have a fire in the fire pits on site which was great.

10/10 would stay again. Stayed 3 nights. Fab place to stay. We had a spot up the back on the gravel with 1 neighbor. Nice and level. Very quiet at night. We were self contained. 2 port a loos, very very clean. Place to wash dishes and get water (i think you had to boil it for drinking). A couple of dams. Lovely grassy flat areas for people to set up tents. Grey water dump site. 15 minutes to cradle mountain. Pet friendly.

Great spot for to be based for Cradle Mountain and much more affordable than the alternatives. Lovely view of the lake which you can swim in or use the kayaks on offer. Super clean portaloos are available. Sites available for campervan and tents. Please be aware that there aren't really allocated sites, even if you book ahead. I booked via HipCamp, and would recommend ringing ahead to confirm. But Scott does a great job to make sure everyone gets a spot. Multiple spots with power and heaps of options for unpowered spots. Compared to the $90 a night other sites were wanting for mid January, I was happy here for $30 for powered site.

Stayed 2 nights in Jan. We had booked ahead but I'm not sure it really mattered! Owner just asked us if we had paid or not. Two portaloos in a convenient location and well looked after - first time I've seen an artificial plant to decorate a portaloo! Lots of space, good views of the lake which has two kayaks free for use and swimming if you are keen. Honesty box with soft drinks for $2. Water and dishwashing sink set up for use. We had read other reviews about power hook ups being available but it is only in one area of the campsite and you have to make sure you are in early to get a spot in that part. Really convenient location to Cradle Mountain. No phone service

Great spot to stay, we were up the top on grass which is great for tents and trailers. Caravan sites looked great. We were excited to buy a wheelbarrow of firewood and firelighters were much appreciated. Porta loos very clean. The owners are lovely and very helpful. Would definitely stay again.

Scott was busy but completely unflustered by all the vans coming and going. We stayed three nights with power and filled our water tank on arrival. Even though there were lots of campers, there is plenty of room and the two portaloos were cleaned daily. A bonus was that we asked Scott about emptying our black water before we left and he was able to help us. Such a lovely property. We walked up into the bush and around the little dam. A great spot. Thanks Scott.

Scott is a Superhost and prepared the place well. Best 2 porta toilets I have ever seen. The surrounding near bush and wildlife is great. $10 for a 15Amp extension lead from the house is shared between all campers. We had 4 users, which was enough to charge the batteries. Multiple appliances causes a significant voltage drop and may trip the CB. $40/day for a limited consumption may need to be reviewed. No TV Poor to (mostly no) Mobile Network Short 15 min Drive to the Cradle Mountain Information Centre. (Please watch the wombats crossing the road any given time) we saw three and one crossing in front of the car. Was doing 60km/h, she's ok.. We loved the place even with the limitations that we couldn't know reading the description.

Scott was an awesome host. A convenient spot to stay for an early start at Cradle Mtn. Not a lot of privacy between spots, quite small space. But everyone was friendly. Got to feed the fish (awesome fun!) and go for a little stroll around the dam. Best portaloo you've ever laid eyes on. Not even kidding.

An excellent location and close to CM. Came for two nights and stayed four! Amenities are basic, adequate and reasonably priced. But as others have said it's only early days in this family's venture and their vision is good! Wouldn't hesitate to stay again or recommend the place to others!

Great campsite, with options for power. Peaceful spot overlooking a dam. Watching the sun rise over the trees was beautiful. Owner was very helpful. Great spot for a few nights while you visit cradle mountain. The Telstra service doesn't work down in the camping area but up at the top of drive it does. Scott was really lovely and took us down to feed the fish in the dam. The gravel/blue rock camping area is very nice in wet days as your not sloshing around in mud as we would have been if we'd stayed at the discovery park and this place is cheaper. We were the only one there for the four nights we stayed which was really lovely with outlook over the dam. Highly recommend.

Laurajanehahn

Nice spot for the night. Scott has opened his property up to host campers and caravans ect. He has power and water and a clean portaloo toilet. He also has a fridge with camp food via an honesty box. Site over looks his damn that has hundreds of rainbow trout. They are his babies and let's you feed them in the morning. Platypus also live in the damn but we did not spot any as it may of been to cold for them as the night we stayed it was -3°C. Aparantly wombats are around too. We where lucky to see the damn freeze over in sections. It was $15 per person +$10 for power. So for the 2 of us it was $40 for the night

Absolute gem!!! This was a massive highlight to our Tasmania trip. So glad the discovery park was fully booked. Scott and his partner were the most lovely people, couldn't do enough for you. Lovely spot to camp on a beautiful property right next to the dam. A few seats and picnic tables to chill on on as well and take in the scenery. Good basic alternative to cradle mountain Discovery park which is very expensive .This place was $30 couple per night - fine if you just want to base yourself for the night or 2 to discover the area with only 15 mins to Discovery centre car park. Very small flat area behind house would hold 5 or 6 vans and small grass area for a couple of tents, 1 Porta Loo and a bin provided. Fully self contained only as no power or water . Nice birds and a large dam with fish $20 per fish if you catch them, food to feed fish $2 and honesty box with UHT milk etc.
